Some four decades ago in an apartment house called Tokiwa-so, a group of
budding manga artists were pondering their futures. Now they're on the
screen in TOKIWA-SO NO SEISHUN, which zooms in on the shared
quarters of Fujio Akatsuka, Shotaro Ishimori, Motoo Abiko/Hiroshi Fujimoto (aka
Fujio Fukio) and Jiro Tsunoda, current giants of the booming comics trade
around the world. Directed by Jun Ichikawa and starring Masahiro Motoki,
Tokiwa-so shows from 3/23 at Theatre Shinjuku.
